mission statement

morning mist

Harvest Time invites Christians of wealth to come together in circles to engage with money as a doorway to spiritual transformation at the personal, communal and systemic levels. By "Christians of wealth" we mean people who come from the culture of wealth or who understand themselves to have more than enough money in a world where too many do not have what they need to survive. Harvest Time is rooted in the Christian tradition and welcomes people of all faiths who feel called to sit in our circles as we walk and grow together along the path of Spirit in the service of love, joy and justice.

core values

  • Extravagant love
Inspired by Mary of Bethany whose offering at Jesus’ feet overflowed with love and mirrored God’s abundance (John 12), we seek to open to God’s extravagant, mystical love so that it can flow in and through Harvest Time. We believe that this love of God is the source of the transformation we seek in our personal and communal lives – as well as in our economic systems.
  • Integration of all parts of ourselves
Conscious that the light of the indwelling Christ is held in the depths of the human person (John 15:5) and believing that the spiritual journey leads to wholeness, we welcome all parts of ourselves – our strengths, brilliance, wildness, compassion, creativity as well as the parts of ourselves we are tempted to deny or repress – in order to heal the divisions inside ourselves and more fully blossom as human beings.
  • Transparency in community
We come together to share the realities of our lives and finances in community as a powerful way to free ourselves from energies that can be destructive when things are kept hidden.
  • Discernment in community
Trusting Jesus’ promise that whenever two or more are gathered He is present (Matthew 18:20), we come together as spiritual friends to listen to each other and to the silence in our midst for the leading of the Holy Spirit. In community, we experience the transformative power of Christ and move beyond our best thinking into the wisdom of God.
  • Interconnectedness
Inspired by the manna story in which the fruits of the harvest were gathered in such a way that everyone had enough (Exodus 16:18) and by the early Christian community’s practice of” sharing from their plenty to supply others’ need so there would be equality” (2 Corinthians 8), we seek to allow our lives, money and resources to flow in a way that deepens relationship and honors our connectedness with all of God’s creation.
  • Partnerships of healing and reconciliation
Inspired by Jesus’ example of crossing the cultural, religious and political boundaries of his time in order to heal division and build relationship (see, for instance, John 4, Luke 5:29-3), we seek to create and sustain relationships and partnerships that heal dynamics that historically have separated us such as dynamics around religion, race, class, gender, and power. We believe that this is a powerful way that Christ is working in the world today to draw all of creation and all of humanity deeper into the heart of love.
  • Sabbath
Aware that the Creator rested on the seventh day (Genesis 2:2-3), we welcome Sabbath as a wonderful gift that nourishes our spirits and bodies and that allows us to delight in the gifts of our lives and connect with the extravagant source of love.
